Motorola CEO: Droid Bionic and 4G LTE Xoom Coming in June

Motorola CEO: Droid Bionic and 4G LTE Xoom Coming in June Droid Bionic 300x241For a company that helps catapult the popularity of Android phones – and the Droid series – to its dizzying heights in the US, Motorola Mobility hasn’t enjoyed the same level of success with its newer offerings in the market; partly because other phone makers have steadily raised their game and catch up, and partly due to Motorola’s own doing. The moment of truth for Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha came as he lead the company’s Q1 earning calls and answer questions about – among other things – the delayed of the highly anticipated Motorola Droid Bionic.

On the topic of the Motorola Droid Bionic delay, as it was supposed to launch this May, Sanjay said that initially the Droid Bionic had some 4G issue that still needed to be ironed out. Apparently, the company isn’t the only one to blame for the delay – because Verizon also partially played a role. Then Motorola saw features from another of the company’s device that they thought would be great to see on the Droid Bionic. Hence, further delay of the phone.

We’re still not certain whether or not it will still retain the same Bionic name. It’s possible that we’ll see the oft-rumored Targa to replace its place instead. Funnily, Motorola has all but erased any traces of the Droid Bionic on its website.

He assured that both the phone and 4G LTE model of the Xoom will see the light of day in June. Doesn’t seem too bad, folks, since June is just right around the corner.

Those who have been waiting to hear confirmation about the launch date of 4G LTE Xoom can now sleep soundly. We sure hope that Motorola has learned a thing or two about not pricing their tablet on the steeper side of things.

AT&T Rolls Out HSUPA Update for HTC Inspire 4G

AT&T Rolls Out HSUPA Update for HTC Inspire 4G Inspire 4G 300x211Calling all HTC Inspire 4G owners who have been waiting for the update that will finally enable HSUPA on your phone – AT&T and HTC are now officially rolling out the update via OTA.

These are just some of the things you can expect from the update. Apart from the increased data speed on the phone, you will get auto configuration settings for your Hotmail, Live and MSN email account. In addition, setting up your email on the HTC Inspire 4G will be a tad easier.

Checking if the update is already available for your device is as easy as going to Settings & About – and the 1.84.502.11 update should already be there. Some people have reported of not seeing the update yet, so you shouldn’t panic if you don’t see it there.

Meanwhile, people who have updated the device did notice some improvement to both their download and upload speed. Just make sure you reboot the device after updating the firmware.

It’s always the same – sometimes a product is pushed to the market even though it’s far from being flawless and fit for selling. But consumers lap it up anyway – what with most just can’t live without being the first one on the block to own the hottest gadget. In the case of the HTC Inspire 4G, as mentioned by Ubergizmo, the speed throttle was actually put in place by AT&T on the phone because their HSUPA network was still a work in progress back then.

Droid Charge Still Delayed, Casio G’zOne Commando and Droid Incredible 2 Launched

Droid Charge Still Delayed, Casio G’zOne Commando and Droid Incredible 2 Launched Casio GzOne 272x300Wow, we can’t remember the last time we bought a Casio – it was either the calculator, digital watch, or it could also be one of those 0ld-sk00l personal digital assistant devices that were all the hype back in the 1990s. But we’re not going to discuss about any of those things. Instead, this is about the “weirdly” named and punctuated Casio G’zOne Commando – the company’s first foray into Android phone.

Equally “weird” is the look of the phone, but hey — different strokes for different folks and all that. News has it that Verizon Wireless will launch the ruggedized Casio Commando today. Don’t be fooled by its look, because it does pack some serious stuff. The phone comes with Froyo, 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen, 512MB of RAM and a 5-megapixels camera with autofocus and flash.

To be launched along with — please don’t make us write the complete name – Casio Commando is the HTC Droid Incredible 2. You probably already know that the phone comes with a 4-inch screen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 768 of RAM, rear facing 8-megapixels camera and a front facing 1.3-megapixels camera.

Another phone was supposed to be launched yesterday, the Droid Charge from Samsung. Due to Verizon’s 4G network outage it has since been delayed. The last we heard Verizon has fixed the problem, so we’ll keep you abreast of things.

By the way, both phones will come with a $199.99 price tag on a two-year contract. The off-contract price for the Casio Commando is $449.99 and it’s $439.99 for the Droid Incredible 2. Just so happen, Amazon has an offer on the latter – where you can get the phone for a mere $99. The standard two-year contract also applies, obviously.  You can check out the phone’s 720p camcorder by Phonedog below:

Confusion Galore: Are These Parts of the Motorola Droid 3 or Targa?

Oh, Motorola! You sure know how to tease us. After the not-so-buttery-smooth performance of your CEO during the earnings call, you lured us back in with the Droid 3 – or at least parts of the phone. Wait, it could also be the Targa. Confused? So are we.

Confusion Galore: Are These Parts of the Motorola Droid 3 or Targa? Droid 3

The images were leaked by an OEM parts retailer called Global Redirects Parts and have been analyzed further by the folks at Phandroid. What you’re seeing is basically the screen and the top-half part of the phone.

What’s odd about them is that the parts retailer has decided to throw in the Targa name alongside the Droid 3 description. The oddities don’t end there. How come a phone that is not yet scheduled to come out anytime soon already has spare parts for sale? Granted, you can’t exactly buy the parts for now as they are listed as having a stock of zero.

The pictures reveal that whichever phone model this is – it will come with a 4-inch touchscreen. Upon further inspection, you can also spot the front-facing camera.

Motorola and Verizon have not confirmed the existence of Droid 3, so this is all basically speculation. To add more to the confusion, it is believed that the code name for the Droid 3 is Solana – not Targa. The latter, if you have been reading our articles, of course, is the phone that is believed to be the reincarnation of the Droid Bionic. Are you still with us?

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as we know more.
