Motorola Fixes Incompatibility Issue of Banking Apps on Atrix 4G

Motorola Fixes Incompatibility Issue of Banking Apps on Atrix 4G Atrix 4G 300x199Having problems with the online banking app on your Motorola Atrix 4G phone? You’re not the only one, because there have been many reports of incompatibility between the 4.1.83 update that was pushed out by the company for the Atrix in early May with some banking apps on the phone. Fortunately, a fix for your online banking woe is on its merry way.

Getting the fix is as simple as following the instructions below:

Make sure you have the latest firmware update for your Atrix 4G.
Download the new Atrix Certificate updater from the Android market.
Open the downloaded file and follow the prompts.
Your banking app should be working fine with no hitch now.

If you’re not sure whether or not you need the update, some affected banking apps on the Atrix 4G that have been reported before include “Chase” and “Bank of America” banking apps. Good on Motorola for spotting the problem and coming up with a solution in a quick manner. Wish the same could be said about providing update to the latest Android OS.

Motorola Droid Bionic Appears on Nenamark Benchmarking Site, Runs PowerVR GPU

Motorola Droid Bionic Appears on Nenamark Benchmarking Site, Runs PowerVR GPU Droid Bionic1 300x241It appears we haven’t seen the last of Motorola Droid Bionic. Despite reports of a possible name change in the past and the fact that the phone has been delayed – it now pops up at one benchmarking site. Just how well did the supposed Droid Bionic do on the benchmark test?

As posted on Nenamark, here’s where thing gets a little bit fuzzy. The phone only received a single digit score of 24, unlike the norm where phones usually get a reading of low, average and high. Some speculate that the benchmark test was canceled abruptly – though it still warrants a score to be given out.

Motorola Droid Bionic Appears on Nenamark Benchmarking Site, Runs PowerVR GPU Droid Bionic Nenamark

That’s not all the details that the site managed to get from the Droid Bionic. Apparently, the tested device used a PowerVR SGX 540 GPU – not the previously reported Tegra 2 processor. The PowerVR GPU is the perfect match for dual-core processors offering from Texas Instruments that Motorola has been using for some of its newer devices.

The tested Droid Bionic was also spotted running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, so there will be none of those waiting for a Gingerbread upgrade like the Droid X2.

It’s not yet confirmed that Motorola will stick to the Droid Bionic name. But the company did say that it will come – in one form or another – soon.

Verizon to Roll Out Gingerbread Update for Motorola Droid X Tomorrow

Verizon to Roll Out Gingerbread Update for Motorola Droid X Tomorrow Droid X1 300x159Get the confetti out Motorola Droid X owners; (temporarily) eat your heart out Droid X2 owners – because the older phone will finally get the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The OTA update has been confirmed by Verizon Wireless and it will be rolled out as soon as tomorrow.

According to the confirmation, owners of Motorola Droid X will get the Gingerbread update wirelessly tomorrow, on May 27th. We’re just glad that there’s a happy ending to this story – even though the update was rumored to come early in the month.

Along with the Gingerbread, here are some things that you can expect from the update:

            • New download manager app
            • App and power management details
            • Improved copy and paste function
            • New UI and color scheme
            • Customizable dock icons
            • Creation of custom app groups
            • Updated calendar options
            • Geo-tagging function for camera app
            • Improved email and calendar app

These will practically make your Droid X phone seem brand new – provided you have been taking good care of the phone.

No words yet on the Gingerbread update for the Droid X2, but seeing that the phone has just been released – we expect it will take a good couple of weeks more. That being said, we don’t mind if Verizon decides to surprise us all by releasing the update earlier.

Android 3.1 Honeycomb Confirmed for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Android 3.1 Honeycomb Confirmed for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Galaxy Tab 10.11 300x221If you’re one of the few dozen lucky people who were given the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 during the Google I/O conference, or if you’ve been religiously following the development of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, you’d probably know that the wonder tablet is running Android 3.1. Now, Samsung has given its confirmation that the final product will be shipped with Android 3.1.

There’s much to cheer about this news, because the update will bring a much needed stability that the previous seems to be lacking in. To have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 shipped with a stable system will hopefully avoid the tablet from becoming the ill-fated Motorola Xoom – which was unfairly criticized for the flawed OS.

Apart from the improved stability, we don’t believe that there’s any other significant difference.

As for the launch date of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 – the tablet is expected to hit stores on June 8. Don’t worry about breaking the bank though, because the 16GB model of Galaxy Tab 10.1 can be yours for $499 – while the 32GB model can be had for $599. No words yet on how much Samsung will charge for the 64GB model.
