World’s cheapest tab Aakash now available on rent in college libraries soon, its a big step taken by Indian govt for Indian students.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has cut the cost to the tablet to half and offered the same to state governments.

The government has distributed about 10,000 units of Aakash since its launch in 2010. The units, which are in the test phase, have been given to the students on an undertaking that they will return the units after using them for some months.

Optional Accessories are also available with it like Car Charger and Keyboard Case. These key features of the Aakash Tablet PC (UbiSlate) would have given a better idea about the technical features of the world’s cheapest tablet PC.
The Centre is now working on specifications of version 2.0 of the tablet that will have a capacitive touchscreen, such as the one in Apple’s iPad, and a processor with speed ranging from 800 MHz to 1 GHz.
The tablet will be helpful to students studying in fields such as engineering, science and humanities – video lectures are already pre-loaded on the tablet. “The duration of rental can be decided by the college.
Now we can say after this decision Aakash for all, now onwards every student who are not able to buy this tab can use this tablet after paying only small amount.
