Mark Zuckerberg is the highest profiteering billionaire of 2014
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, has had the best start in the New Year than any other entrepreneur in the World. Financially, Facebook business soared during the last quarter of 2013 and made Zuckerberg the highest earner with $3.4 billion turnover for himself alone, according to the quarterly report released by Facebook on 30th January, 2014. Notably, his closest competitors in personal profit – Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google – did not earn even half of what the supremo of Facebook gained. Facebook had more than half of its business through mobile devices for the first time since its launch a decade ago.
The total asset of Zuckerberg is $28 billion, which is at the 22nd position on the list of billionaires in the World. Page and Brin earned $1.4 billion during the same period but remain ahead of Facebook founder in terms of net fortune. It has to be noted that founders of Google are relatively less susceptible to market-share because of their cash-assets as compared to Zuckerberg, who has his fortunes invested on his company’s stock.
Jeff Bezos of Amazon suffered loss of $3.4 billion, which is one of the worst quarterly business figures for the last quarter of last year. With such gains, net fortune of Zuckerberg has come closer to that of Bezos, Page and Brin. Zuckerberg can overtake the other 3 billionaires but only if Facebook shares surge 18% in 2014 while that of Amazon and Google remain stagnant.
Ahead of the net worth of Zuckerberg, Page, Brin or Bezos and unperturbed by their success is Bill Gates, who is still the richest man on Earth with $76 billion. With $42 billion, Larry Ellison of Oracle is also way ahead of the three closely competing billionaires.
