Nexus 7 has already become a hot pick in the tablet market mainly because of its quad core processor and the affordable $200 price tag. We can not help but think… where will the Google’s latest flagship tablet stand when compared to Apple iPad 3?
Here goes the full head on Nexus 7 vs Apple iPad 3 comparison.
Design And BodyBuild
It would have been really unfair to ask for a better design for a tablet which comes with a $200 price tag. We must hand it over to ASUS to make the Nexus 7 best of both worlds and making it a tablet which is an eye candy to us.
The Nexus 7′s rear casing has a rubbery feel and is much more comfortable than other tablets which are available in this budget segment. It goes without saying that the most of the Nexus 7 is built out of plastic but you would be happy to know that the plastic will survive most of the falls and isn’t at all the type which many people anticipated before the release of Nexus 7.
Apple iPad 3 on the other hand, is much more like its predecessors, in fact you might not be able to tell the difference between iPad 2 and iPad 3 in the first glance when the screen is turned off.
Winner: Nexus 7 is the winner just because new iPad 3 didn’t have anything up its sleeve.
Google Nexus 7 sports a Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A9 which is more than enough to handle all the apps and games available on the Google Play Store. However, Apple iPad 3 features only an Apple A5X Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 which if said in simple words is almost 3x times slower CPU clock speed than the Nexus 7
Winner: Nexus 7
Nexus 7, as understood by its name, features a 7 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen which comes with a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of nearly 216 ppi. Apple iPad 3 has a clear win in this category because of its 9.7 inch LED-backlit IPS TFT, capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels making the pixel density rise to nearly 264 ppi. The retina display also adds wonders to the Apple iPad 3 screen which the Nexus 7 just can’t compete with.
Winner: Apple iPad 3
It is a tough call to call any tablet winner in this category because while the Nexus 7 does not feature a rear camera at all compared to the Apple iPad 3 , it features a 1.2 MP front camera which offers 4x more megapixels than the Apple iPad 3 front camera.
Winner: Tie between Nexus 7 and Apple iPad 3.
Other Tech Specs
Apart from the usual connectivity options like 3g, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc Nexus 7 features NFC connectivity while on the other hand iPad 3 doesn’t feature NFC, instead it features 3G and 4G LTE connectivity.
In terms of memory, Nexus 7 had to taste defeat since it comes with only 8 and 16GB of internal memory while the iPad 3 comes with 16/32/64 GB of internal storage. However, the same can’t be said for RAM, the Nexus 7 and iPad 3 both features 1 GB of RAM.
Unless you are an hardcore Apple fan we really do not see any point in buying the Apple iPad 3 over Google Nexus 7 specially at this point of time when it is only a matter of few months when the Apple iPad Mini becomes official.
