Not too long ago a video of Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android Jelly Bean was leaked on the internet. Android Jelly Bean brings many awesome goodies with itself like Project Butter, better UI, enhanced apps, etc.
After endless searching by the users, we have finally been able to find a download link by SamMobile which claims to be Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for Samsung Galaxy S3. The update is for the model GT-i9300, which is the model number of the international version of the S3.
For those who are new to the custom installation scene, this update is definitely not for you. Installing this build should be done carefully as you can end up with a bricked device. Flashing the build will also void the warranty on the phone. But don’t lose heart, SamMobile claims that the Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3 will begin at the end of this month and will be available over the air (OTA) and on Samsung Kies.
This leaked update brings a few visible changes for the Galaxy S3 users, which include a new clock, a function called “dormant mode”, Google Now accessible through Google Search widget, a few live wallpapers, taking a screenshot through “palm swipe”, and “safe mode” (most definitely only for test builds).
A user who has flashed the build seems to be having problems with incoming and outgoing calls. b3ssen commented, “Anybody else having problems with incoming and outgoing calls? Nobody seems to hear me! If i recieve a incoming call, i can’t hear the person calling me! I will reflash the rom and try again!”
A few users have commented that the update is perfect and they haven’t encountered any bugs yet. The firmware I9300XXDLG4 is based on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and has July 31 2012 build date. This leaked build might not be the stable version and there might be a more stable release by Samsung.
