Verizon Motorola Droid Razr Maxx Finally Gets ICS Update Rollout On Fullscale Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX e1341242001886 192x300Verizon Motorola Droid users have been waiting for the Ice Cream Sandwich roll out for some time now.

It has been confirmed by many people that they have started to get the goodness of Ice Cream Sandwich update since yesterday.

Verizon Motorola Droid Razr Maxx Gets ICS

When Motorola first came out with its list of handsets which will be getting ICS earlier in February, Droid Razr Maxx was just listed in the evaluation and planning stage of its ICS development. However, the revised list which Motorola released had the Droid Razr Maxx in the development phase of its ICS update but that was not all. Motorola further announced that the ICS update will roll out by the end of Q2 and it seems Motorola has kept its promise.

There was a time in April when a rumor of Motorola Droid Razr Maxx getting the Android 4.0 ICS update surfaced but sadly no such thing happened and the month passed by. Apparently, the source of the ICS update rumor is to believed as Best Buy. The frustrated users had to then ultimately use the leaked ICS ROMs for their Droid Razr Maxx just to get an exact idea just how would Ice Cream Sandwich run on their Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.

Apparently, Motorola released two video teasers in its official Japanese website, both of the videos showed its viewers what Ice Cream Sandwich has up its sleeve for Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. These videos were just like fuel to to the speculations of the Droid Razr Maxx getting Android 4.0 ICS.

Finally on June 22, few people reported about their Motorola Droid Razr Maxx getting the Android 4.0 ICS update. However, as fate would have it, the update was pushed out to only a few of the handsets. So there were still a large majority of people left waiting for the ICS update on their Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. Motorola later announced, that rolling out the ICS update to only few of the units was a part of the standard update process and a full scale roll out will happen in the coming days.

And just today, reports have started to come in that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is now being rolled out to ALL Motorola Droid Razr Maxx units and just in case you have a Droid Razr Maxx not included in the first ICS update push then you can manually check for update by Settings> About phone > Software update.

Update still isn’t available. Been checking pretty much every time i check my phone and it just tells me it’s up to date.

Today I still have no ICS update for my RAZR. I try Settings -> About phone -> System updates.
    1) Using a strong Verizon 4GLTE connection in Bethesda MD, I still always get “Check for update is not available at this time”.
    2) Using a WiFi connection, it still always hangs on “Checking for available update. Please wait …” forever, with both my corporate WiFi firewall and my home Verizon router firewall.

My phone is fully charged and plugging in the charger does not help.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

ICS 6..16.211 was released officially on June 22nd. It was available for root users before this and now that .211 has OTA, there is an ‘official Motorola (Verizon) update’ that will fix the battery drain and add Google Chrome. The release version is 6.16.215 and is a 41 MB update that once loaded on your sd card, will automatically detect on boot and ask if you would like to install the update. Other owners have gone into the stock recovery and used the ‘.zip update’ to get the file to upgrade the system. The new build and kernel version are a July 11 release. Your battery issues will be resolved shortly if you choose not to do it proactively. Just be patient. We waited a very long time to upgrade to the coveted Ice Cream Sandwich. It will be as sweet as the name implies.
